  2. Habitat • They live in Central China, Sichuan, and Gansu.

  3. Description • Color: white and black • Weight: 220 to 230 pounds • Size: about 5 feet

  4. Diet (food) • They eat 99% bamboo, some grass, some rodents, musk deer fawns, bark, sugar canes, rice gruel, high fiber biscuit, carrots, apples, and sweet potatoes.

  5. Young (offspring) • Born pandas stay with their parents for 3 years they are helpless and they are two to three ounces when they are born.

  6. Predators • Farmers destroy their natural surroundings and hunters are also there predators.

  7. Estimated Remaining Population • There is about 1600 left in the wild and 300 left in the zoos

  8. Reasons why the giant panda is endangered • Hunters put traps for other animals and the pandas go for the traps and the traps kill the pandas. Another reason is habitat destructor. Lots of people move too China and they build homes and pandas keep losing their homes. The last one is bamboo shortages. Bamboo is starting to die and they pandas start to die because they don’t have enough bamboo to eat.

  9. How were protecting them now • In the zoos we breed them. Like we give them food and drinks and a home.

  10. Other Interesting Facts • The giant panda looks like bears but they are more related to raccoons. 16 out of 24 hours they eat. They eat about 80 pounds a day of bamboo. They also have 6 fingers on each paw
