Speed and agility were the biggest project drivers, with results produced much faster than other options. Real-Time dashboard is delivered to users through a Jboss portal; future efforts may include mobilization of the dashboard.

  11. Real-Time Service Operations Challenge: GE Energy is responsible for the operations and maintenance needed to support their commercial building engines. They needed a solution where they could track real-time engine performance to more effectively respond to support and maintenance issues. They had no system in place to manage and monitor these assets. The idea was to have their Oracle ERP system manage this process but that solution fell short of expectations.   Solution: The services team designed a unified next generation portal that gives service managers and customers a 360 degree view of how their commercial engine is being maintained and how that impacts performance. Next Gen Portal for their service managers & customers to a have 360 degree view of maintenance and performance of the engines they own. The end users of the dashboard will be maintenance planners, help desk and RND. This will be a GE application running inside a portal.

  13. Real-Time Branch Office KPIs Challenge: Banamex needed real-time insight into individual branch office performance metrics to improve business response times. The performance information was captured every 15 minutes and it would take IT 3-5 days to create the performance dashboard for the business to measure productivity goals. Solution: Create a Business Command Center containing real-time performance dashboards for dynamic information analysis. The dashboards would contain information from legacy systems, databases, a BI data warehouse, web services and excel. The Business Command Center offered one access point to monitor the business activity to increase branch office value and productivity levels.

The result was a disparate, disconnected collection of production management portals that provided a patchwork view of manufacturing efforts. The existing manufacturing processes and systems were expensive to support because of the lack a standardized architecture or framework. • Solution: Oasis is a situational dashboard used by Qualcomm’s CDMA Tech (QCT) Program Management team. This application aggregates hardware, software, project and customer data to promote better visibility of the products Qualcomm delivers to their suppliers and customers.

The goal of Recovery.gov was to make data available for public use, presented in a way that informs rather than overwhelms people in order to educate the public on stimulus spending. NASA has 80 data centers and they need a way to track operational datacenter metrics in order to better understand where they should focus their consolidation efforts. Solution: NASA is using Presto to roll up datacenter metrics like agency/server count, OS count and mapped app count for decision making Apps that help NASA understand what assets are in each data center and the expenses associated with maintaining these assets across 80 datacenters.

  23. The Pervasive Human Resources Portal Challenge- Dell’s Human Resources was tasked to rewrite their HR systems for their employees and for the HR staff. They needed to rapidly connect Peoplesoft, Oracle OBIEE, Taleo, SharePoint, and other internal and SaaS systems, as well as external networking sources such as FaceBook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Solution - Dell was able to connect all of their disparate data sources without integration - combining data on the fly in real-time.
