STEM Development Office (SDO) Workforce Data Initiatives • SDO initiatives strengthen current and future diverse, highly-qualified, world-class STEM talent at all levels for the DoD and defense industrial base • Identifying common workforce issues and leverage workforce supply/demand planning and modeling initiatives • Gathering and analyzing DoD workforce data with emphasis on workforce diversity (e.g. women, under-represented minorities, disabled) • Generating an updated inventory of DoD STEM education and outreach initiatives (May/June 2011) • Commissioned study by the National Academy of Engineering-National Research Council to review current and projected workforce demands (particularly in high priority science and technology areas) relevant to DoD and the defense industrial base as well as limitations in meeting those needs
