  8. Incarcerated Veterans Veterans can sometimes run into issues with law enforcement and the criminal justice system resulting in incarceration. It is important justice-involved Veterans are familiar with VA benefits.Applying for Benefits and Your Character of DischargeGenerally, in order to receive VA benefits and services,  the Veteran’s character of discharge or service must be under other than dishonorable conditions (e.g., honorable, under honorable conditions, general).However, individuals receiving undesirable, bad conduct, and other types of dishonorable discharges may qualify for VA benefits depending on a determination made by VA.

Organizational Structures & Staffing (Dean & Program Manager: • Implement new Organizational Chart (focus on key roles and functions to address program needs) • Complete hiring & onboarding supports for new staff • Fall Goal setting (classified staff) • Hire new CTAP Instructor (Fulltime Permanent) • Replace Program Coordinator Position & Early Hire Retiring Program Coordinator (Spring 2019) Educational Programming (Faculty, Program Support Staff, Dean): • Implement High School 21+ as an alternative for students seeking high school diplomas • Spring Implementation for CTAP Program (WSR & MSU spaces) • Prepare for WA Trades Union CTAP Pre- Audit • Continue to explore new Program options (I-DEA, STEM/STEAM, Barbering, Welding, Automotive) • CANVAS Curriculum Usage (HS 21+, CIS, I-DEA Programs) Systemic Interventions (I.T Specialist & Lab Tech/Navigator): • Implement Learning Labs to support struggling learners with student services support staff provided by SBTC • Ensure research based, high yield intervention software is loaded on laptops in learning labs Technological Tools, Infrastructure (I.T Specialist): • Implement Laptop Deployment -80 laptops to BM, CIS Program to cells & units by close of winter) secured cabinets • Secure new or re-furbished computers (Unloop, Microsoft Partnership) • Replace old network servers Systems Level Implementations (Fall 2018)

Budgetary Improvements & Supports (Dean, Program Services Manager, & Staff): • Secure Grants & Foundation Support from Identified Sources & Develop Partnerships to secure resources and support for EdCC Programs • Ensure that funding is available for Professional Development & Training Opportunities • Funding Projections/Needs requiring EdCC Foundation Support (2019-20) Governance/Oversight (Dean , Students , DOC/EdCC & Community): • EdCC Student Advisory • EdCC Education Stakeholder Advisory Data Collection Efforts (Program Support Staff, Dean): • Track enrollment data, Accuplacer test results, program completion data • Course Evaluation Data • Data collected via students and other stakeholders • New Accuplacer Test (Math) • eCasas Test Training EdCC Facility Improvements (Dean, Program Services Manager, DOC): • Continued Focus on expanding EdCC Education Facility Space (WSR , TRU, MSU, etc.) • Continue Addressing Safety & Security Concerns via Audit & Walk through efforts • Laydown Area Remodel/water & heat issues resolved (President Singh funding & Supt. Obenland portable offer) EdCC Systems Level Implementations Fall 2018 (Continued)
