Communication Drives Decision • Very important to clearly communicate needs • Remain calm; staff are trained to do so at 3-6215 • Manage patient for a minimum of 10 minutes • Call back only if a decline in patient and explain the decline • 3 Levels of emergency transportation • “Stable” at this time, but need emergency transportation to ED – can wait for UK Ambulance (FREE to patient) • Emergency need transport to ED ASAP – can NOT wait for UK Ambulance if not available • Emergency need transport to ED ASAP AND need the MERT team called • Rare and only if ambulance can’t get there within 15 minutes
