  4. The Heart of a Missionary? Joy 1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life 2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify(live) and proclaim(words) to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. 1 John 1:1-4 (NASB)

  5. Mark 16:15

  6. Our mission? Are you on Mission with Jesus?

  7. 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And howwill they hear without a preacher? 15Howwillthey preach*unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bringgood news of good things!" Romans 10:14-15 (NASB) • *Preach: announce, publicly proclaim, (PA part) • John 20:21, all believers – called to proclaim • Everyone who proclaims– has beautiful feet!

  8. How beautiful are the feet of those who rescue Someone from the gate of hell All believers are called to be missionaries

  9. Three groups needing light • Lost – know it • Lost – pseudo-believers- think they’re saved, but are not • Saved– but backsliders

  10. Missionary’s message to the lost • Jesus loves you, John 3:16, Rom 5:8, • Jesus wants to redeem you, Gal 3:13, 2 Cor 5:21 • Sin separates us from God, Ps 66:18 • God sends trouble to draw us, Heb 12:6 • God is not fooled by “religion”, Gal 6:7, Mt 15:8 • A lost person must: Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9 • But if person refuses to humble himself and put God first: Mt 25:41, Rev 20:15

  11. Details on what the Lost need to do • Believe - John 6:40 • Repent - Mt 4:17, Acts 2:38 • Confess - Rom 10:9-10, Mt 10:32-33 • Follow - Mt 4:19, Mt 22:37, Ex 20:3 • Born again – John 3:3, Eph 1:13,

  12. Three groups needing light • Lost – know it • Lost – pseudo-believers- think they’re saved, but are not • Saved– but backsliders

  13. Pseudo-believers: think they’re saved But, not saved, Hard working lost people (Page 263)

  14. Signs – not really saved • Not hearing God’s voice, John 10:4 • Love – not default position, John 13:34-35 • Not willing to forgive other believers, Mt 6:14-15, 1 John 3:15 • No gifts of the spirit, Gal 5:22-23 • No desire to be with God’s people, Heb 10:254 Message to the hard working lost? Rom 4:1-5

  15. 1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? 2For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God , and it was credited to him as righteousness.“ 4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. Romans 4:1-4 (NASB) 1/2

  16. 5 But to the one who does not work (for salvation), but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, hisfaith is credited as righteousness Romans 4:5 (NASB) Spiritually mature believers who are on mission with God work hard…. • Not because they “have to” (legalism) • Because they want to (love) 2/2

  17. Three groups needing light • Lost – know it • Lost – pseudo-believers- think they’re saved, but are not • Saved– but backsliders

  21. Think about your relationship with Jesus Spiritual power decreasing Not excited about church Not walking as closely with God Not studying THE WORD as much Not praying as often Losing the sin battles more often
