  2. Promised joy Paul counsels on how to successfully complete your life’s journey and secure the deep joy promised by the Savior. “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” —John 16:24

  3. Be not ashamed “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: …but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God” 2 Timothy 1:8

  4. The Holy Calling “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling… …before the world began” 2 Timothy 1:9

  5. Noble and Great Ones To Abraham: “…the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones;” “…These I will make my rulers; for he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers…” Abraham was chosen before he was born Abraham 3:22-23

  6. Bringing Life and Immortality to light “…our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death… …brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:” 2 Timothy 1:10

  7. Paul was called an apostle “Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.” 2 Timothy 1:11

  8. Eternal Life Promised “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” “…yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.” “The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.” “Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” 2 Timothy 2:3-10

Nephi’s testifies “…Wherefore, if ye shall be obedient to the commandments, and endure to the end, ye shall be saved at the last day…” “And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.” --D&C 14:7 1 Nephi 22:31

  10. A General Apostasy There is evidence that the Church in Paul’s day was falling away from the truth. What scripture mastery is this? 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 1 Nephi 22:31

  11. When would Apostasy take place? See Acts 20:28-31 “…Three years I ceased not to warn everyone night and day with tears.”

  12. Church continues Although some may apostatize in our day, the church will not be withdrawn from the earth again. “…and it shall stand for ever.” See Daniel 2:44-45 “Wherefore, may the kingdom of God go forth…” D&C 65:2-6 Read all verses

  13. “There are still those, not a few, who criticize and rebel, who apostatize and lift their voices against this work…I suppose we always will have them as long as we are trying to do the work of the Lord. The honest in heart will detect that which is true and that which is false…We are a body of Christian solders “marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before.”—Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley

  14. “The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray.” –President Wilford Woodruff

  15. Fought a good fight “…I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

  16. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power Lovers of pleasure Lovers of own self Traitors, heady, high-minded covetousness Despisers of those that are good Are you immunized against? boasters fierce prideful incontinent blasphemers False accusers Disobedient to parents trucebreakers natural affection unthankful unholy 2 Timothy 3:1-5

  17. Spiritual Diseases “Paul taught that a knowledge of the scriptures was our immunization against these (latter-day) evils.”-- Boyd K. Packer Paul prophesied that the spiritual diseases would devastate the society in the last day. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16

  18. The Scriptures “…the word of God, as found in the scriptures, in the words of living prophets, and in personal revelation, has the power to fortify the Saints and arm them with the spirit so they can resist evil, hold fast to the good, and find joy in this life.”—Pres.
