Drake’s Place Project Milestones • 31 August 2012 – deadline to submit bid to Heritage Lottery Fund • December 2012 – Heritage Lottery Fund announces successful bids • Jan-April 2013 – Preparation of specifications and tenders • May–Dec 2013 – Construction and planting • 2014 – 5 year Activity Plan

The Audio Trail Twelve locations • Drake’s Leat and the story of Drake (where the leat enters the reservoir on the west) • The Old Town Street Conduit (on North Hill) • The Morshead Conduit (below Tower) • The Colonnade (either end) • The Reservoir (outside café) • The Duel • Drake’s Place Mills and the story of George Frean (by Cascade) • The 1891 Gardens (anywhere in the gardens) – and perhaps the Tower • The WWII fire hydrant pipes (NE corner of reservoir) with reminiscences • The 20th century gardens – reminiscences of the fountains • Wildlife (north of café) • The Plant Hunters (in Gardens)

  4. Audio Trail Treatment • Performance, using actors • Sound effects • Historical narratives • Reminiscences from local people • Interviews with wildlife experts • Sample

  5. Technology • Sound files downloadable from website with map • App for Android downloadable from website • MP3 players, with sound-files and map, available to borrow on-site • Headphones with splitters to allow schoolchildren to listen in pairs
