Felix has been working for years on making red bull stratos a reality. He secured the help of leading space experts to construct a helium bloon that can take him up to an attitude of around 36km. His heart pounds when he thinks of the moment he makes his leap. He completed a mechanics apprenticeship and then trained as a parachutist when in Austrian army. A couple of aerodynamics students sent him a short carbon wing construction with which they alleged he’d be able to fly after a series of tests and modifications he did so across the English channel in July 2003. When he finish's his red bull stratos project he will send his attention on his new career as being a professional helicopter pilot.
