  1. Laboratory Pilots/Deployment January 22, 2013

  2. Agenda • eDos pilot status update • LRI pilots status update • LOI pilots status update • Riki questions re LOI • Next Steps

  3. eDOS Pilot Update – Patrick Lloyd • Status of Pilots selection – running behind • Plan to submit eDOS DSTU for May 2013 • Preliminary content due 2/24 • Final content due 3/17 • Lab-Lab Pilots • Implications of LOINC orders effort • NIST support for eDOS Q2/Q3 2013 for start (done by Sept 2013) • Expansion of eDOS IG • Ask at order (standardized questions) (eDOS or LOI?) • Need more work from vocabulary group • Common data elements (LOINC codes) suggested code sets • define segment / element location for AOE result (appears HL7 will not approve) [segment for AOE?]

  4. LRI Pilot Update • LRI pilots – completed • LRI implementation by EHR vendors in process • NIST test tool released for EHR Certification 2014

  5. LOI Pilot Update • Status of Pilots selection • Scope of Pilots • Within single vendor (e.g. LIS / EHR from same vendor) • Between vendors (e.g. LIS / EHR from different vendors) • NIST effort with respect to LOI • Start in Feb • Prototype in May 2013 • LOINC orders effort

  6. Questions for Pilots Group • List of some of the most common orders in the ambulatory setting to use in the LOI guide (see LOINC) • Will match the existing LRI cases, but additional cases will help. • Need common orders that include Ask at Order Entry questions – these will be build in respective eDOS test scenarios • Add-On orders - would those ever be based on the result of a previous test? • For example the doc gets the first results back on a blood sample and then realizes he would like to add another test, because one of the screening tests was positive? Liver profile in asymptomatic patient – may want to order hepatitis screen • We are asking, because that would require to test support for parent-child linking in at least one of the scenarios.

  7. Questions for Pilots Group • Since LOI includes billing/insurance information - could anyone share sample data or IN1 and GT1 segments with "real" data - especially to see how the insurance information looks. – ask financial management workgroup at HL7 • Does anyone have sample messages compliant with the eDOS IG? • Should testing include scenarios for new catalog and update to existing catalog?

  8. Next Steps / Questions • Next Steps • Continue effort to recruit eDOS and LOI pilots • Schedule • Calls for coordination every other week at same time next call 1/22 at 2pm Eastern • For questions, please feel free to contact • Bob Dieterle: rdieterle@enablecare.us • Patrick Loyd: patrick.e.loyd@gmail.com
