Childhood/Early Life • Trotsky was born in Yanovka, Ukraine in 1876 • Father, David Bronstein, and mother Anna Bronstein were farmers of Russified Jewish background • As a teen he was arrested, jailed and exiled to Siberia where he joined the Social Democratic Party • While in prison he met and married Alexandra Lvovnawho also was sentenced to Siberia which they had two daughters

  3. Beliefs and Philosophies Simple philosophy- if a commander failed in the failed, he paid the price. If whole unit was at fault, they paid the price. Trotsky believed in Communism and hot it should be spreaded everywhere

Quotes “Learning carries within itself certain dangers because out of necessity one has to learn from one’s enemies.” Learning about those you disagree with you is important because to understand their point of view. “Ideas that enter the mind under fire remain there securely and forever.” Ideas that come to mind in a dire situation are often remain the most.

  5. Connections to Snowball • Trotsky and Snowball both wanted to industrialize I.E Snowball wanting to build the wind mill • Both wanted rules of Communism/Animalism I.E The seven commandments of Animalism • Finally, both were exiled I.E Snowball from Napoleon/Trotsky from Stalin

  6. Ultimate Fate • Was exiled twice, once to Siberia, and finally to Mexico • While in Mexico he was assassinated by a spy under Stalin’s orders • He was killed by a ice pick • Trotsky died at the age of 60
