A Bit Of History • Apple’s first tablet computer was the Newton MessagePad 100, in 1993. • They also developed a prototype PowerBood Duo-based tablet, the PenLite • They decided not to release because it might hurt the MessagePad’s sales • They released several more MessagePads with the final one, being the MessagePad 2100, discontinued in 1998.

  4. An iPad is Born • The IPad was announced on January 27, 2010 • It was released on April 3, 2012 • It originally had a single core cpu and 256MB of ram which was soon overshadowed by the iPhone 4 • It had no USB port • Had an app store that allowed people to easily buy apps

  5. Gen 2 • The iPad 2 had: • a dual core CPU and 512MB of Ram, • a camera, • was thinner and lighter form • a retina display • (2048x1536 resolution with 264 ppi) • A USB port

  6. Gen 3 • The iPad 3 added: • a Retina display, • the new Apple A5X chip with a quad-core graphics processor, • a 5 megapixel camera, • HD 1080p video recording, • voice dictation, • 4G (LTE)[8] • Siri

  7. The interface • Almost all input is given through the touch screen • Complex gestures like multi-touch • Zooming by spreading or pinching two fingers • Touch-drag • Things such as a command line are unavailable unless the iPad is jailbroken • “hidden” visual features • Voids the warranty

App • A computer designed software that aids the user in preforming specific tasks. • enterprise software, accounting software, office suites, graphics software and media players • Different that system software and middleware • They manage and integrate a computer's capabilities, but usually do not directly apply in the performance of tasks that benefit the user.

  9. The App Store • Apps must be approved before they are approved • The primary source of applications for apple products such as the, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. • The most famous products include, Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, and Fruit Ninja
