    2. 08/2010 History Scouting celebrates its 100th Anniversary in America in 2010 BSA incorporated on February 8, 1910 Scouting was chartered by Congress in 1916 to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness Golden Jubilee Year of Scouting in America (50 years) was celebrated with Colorado Springs as the location for the National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1960

    3. 08/2010 Background Pikes Peak Council serves over 14,000 youth annually between the ages of 6 and 20 Scouting programs provide our youth an incredible foundation for good citizenship Leadership Character Achievement Community Service Environmental Stewardship Many Scouts as adults become community and industry leaders Scouting in America has produced immeasurable influence impacting millions of lives

    4. 08/2010 2010 Celebration Centennial Year of Scouting will be a year-long celebration Celebration “kicked off” in September 2009 Monthly Scouting events Quarterly media events Largest public event will be two-day Scout Show held in October 2010 Goal is to get a large number of the non-Scouting public to attend which we estimate would result in an audience of thousands of members of the public in addition to the many Scouts and Scouters

    5. 08/2010 Two-day public event (Sat and Sun, Oct 9-10, 2010) held in public forum with plenty of parking, easy public access and 90,000+ sq ft area for exhibits and booths Planned live radio broadcast from event Held close to camping area where a Council Camporee for all four Pikes Peak Council Districts will be held FREE admission for all uniformed Scouts and Scouters FREE admission for public with donation of non-perishable food item for Care and Share food bank 2010 Scout Show

    6. 08/2010 First Scout Show Goal Demonstrate to public what Scouting does for our youth Show divided into theme area “worlds” with center stage Leadership Achievement Community Service Character Outdoors/Environmental Stewardship Booths designed to demonstrate theme areas Hands-on exhibits (indoor and outdoor) and FUN Special programs held on stage throughout day

    7. 08/2010 Second Scout Show Goal Capture imagination of youth for education and careers post-graduation Science & technology play huge role in Colorado Springs economy Link merit badges to degree programs offered by colleges and universities with emphasis on STEM education and careers (science, technology, engineering and math) Examples: Space Exploration, Engineering, Electronics, Energy, Forestry, Environmental Science merit badges, etc. Link degree programs to employer/sponsor exhibits Include other careers and community organizational exhibits (Fire, Police, Military, Conservation groups, etc.)

    8. 08/2010 Centennial Sponsorship Major Sponsors are invited to sponsor the Centennial Celebration of Scouting (publicity throughout 2010) One Marquis Sponsor ($25,000) – Scouting Centennial Celebration “Brought to you by …” Top billing in all publicity (radio, billboards, print, website) and at every Scouting event throughout the year (including benefits of Platinum sponsorship below); Overall Sponsor of event and Scout Show “worlds” Five Platinum Sponsors ($12,500) Large logo displayed on banner at each Scouting event throughout year, on banner at Scout Show, on website, in monthly Scouting books and in all publicity/advertising Booth and/or exhibit at Scout Show – sale of merchandise allowed; Sponsor of one “world” at Scout Show - ; pick “Leadership”, “Achievement”, “Community Service”, “Character” or “Environmental Stewardship” Gold Sponsors ($10,000) Medium size logo displayed on banner at each Scouting event throughout year, on banner at Scout Show, on website, in monthly Scouting books and in all publicity/advertising Booth and/or exhibit at Scout Show – sale of merchandise allowed
