Tips for Success for Your

Freshman Year!

  • Develop good study habits – your GPA starts here.

  • HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK…complete it AND turn it in!

  • PLANNER…use it! It will make things much easier for you!

  • Meet your counselor.

  • Get involved! Try different activities. It helps you meet people with similar interests, it helps you manage your time better and it looks really good to colleges!

  • Determine the classes you like and dislike. Pinpoint reasons for your likes and dislikes.

  • Understand PHS graduation requirements. Talk to your counselor if you have any questions about them.

  • Begin to explore careers that you believe you might enjoy and find out what academic courses are required to pursue those particular careers.

  • Begin your Student Portfolio in Naviance. Keep good records. This

will help you down the road when you are ready to apply for colleges.

  • Start your Community Service…it’s never too early!

  • Make an appointment with your counselor if you have any questions

about anything. We are here to help!
