  4. What is ESN • It’s one of the biggest students no-profit organization in Europe. • Founded in 1989 . • In conjunction with the return of the first Erasmus students. • Objective: to support and to develop exchange between students, and to offer an intercultural experience . • Also for the students that don’t have the possibility to live an experience abroad (“internationalization at home”). • Main principle: Student helping student.

  5. What is ESN /2 • More than 12.000 volunteers . • 425 local sections (University-based). • ESN exists in 35 different European countries. • Helps over 160.000 students per year . • All ESNers are volunteers. • Annual growth rate: 12.3 %

ESN tasks – Before the Erasmus • In Pavia: Info Market. • Informative booths where former Erasmus students / actual foreign students in Erasmus gives all the info about the city where they have been Erasmus / where they come from, in order to help the Italian students that will go on Erasmus! • In the city that will be your destination. • You can contact the ESN section of the city that will be the destination of your Erasmus: you will surely find important information that will help you !

  9. ESN tasks – During the Erasmus • Improve the social integration of the exchange students: integration both between Erasmus students, and between them and the local community. • Organize any kind of activity: buddy / tutor system, Welcome / orientation week, language exchange project (Tandem), cultural and social activities, trips, events. • Help to overcome the difficulties that can be faced during the mobility period.

  10. ESN tasks – After the Erasmus • Help to fight the post Erasmus syndrome. • Let you live a multicultural experience in your own city. • Welcome who comes back from Erasmus: we need new volunteers!
