What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops, 2 You who are full of noise ,A tumultuous city, a joyous city? Your slain men are not slain with the sword, Nor dead in battle. 3 All your rulers have fled together; They are captured by the archers. All who are found in you are bound together; They have fled from afar. 4 Therefore I said, "Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; Do not labor to comfort me Because of the plundering of the daughter of my people."

As those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate. 8 Before they lay down, Rahab came up to them on the roof, 9 She said to the men: I know that the LORD has given you the land, That the terror of you has fallen on us, and That all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. READ: 2 KINGS 25:1-3 1 It came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalemand encamped against it. And they built a siege wall against it all around. 2 The city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 3 By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine had become so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. READ: JEREMIAH 39:1-8 1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it. 2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated. 3 All the princes of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabmag, with the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon. 4 When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, they fled. They went out of the city by night, by way of the king's garden, by the gate between the two walls. And he went out by way of the plain.

READ: JEREMIAH 39:1-8 5 But the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They had captured him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him. 6 The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes in Riblah. The king of Babylon also killed all the nobles of Judah. 7 He put out Zedekiah's eyes and bound him with bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon. 8 The Chaldeans burned the king's house and the houses of the people with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

READ: JEREMIAH 52:1-11 1 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 2 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 3 Because of the anger of the LORD this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, till He finally cast them out from His presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 4 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and encamped against it. And they built a siege wall against it all around. 5 The city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 6 By the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine had become so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

All the men of war fled and went out of the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were near the city all around. And they went by way of the plain. 8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and they overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. All his army was scattered from him. 9 They took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath. And he pronounced judgment on him. 10 The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. And he killed all the princes of Judah in Riblah. 11 He put out the eyes of Zedekiah. The king of Babylon bound him in bronze fetters, took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death. NKJV

And they drew near and put their feet on their necks.” 25 Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and of good courage, for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” 26 Joshua struck them and killed them, and hanged them on five trees; and they were hanging on the trees until evening. Set food and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.” 23 Jehoram prepared a great feast for them. After they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel. NKJV

All his army was scattered from him. 6 They took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they pronounced judgment on him. 7 They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. They put out the eyes of Zedekiah, bound him with bronze fetters and took him to Babylon. NKJV

The voice, The cry of the daughter of my people from a far country. Is not the LORD in Zion? Is not her King in her? Why have they provoked Me to anger With their carved images — With foreign idols? 20 The harvest is past, The summer is ended And we are not saved! 21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people I am hurt. I am mourning and Astonishment has taken hold of me. 22 Is there no balm in Gilead, Is there no physician there? Why is there no recovery for the health of the daughter of my people?

For the virgin daughter of my people has been broken with a mighty stroke, with a very severe blow.” 18 “If I go out to the field, Behold, those slain with the sword! If I enter the city, Behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.”

My bile is poured on the ground Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, Because the children and the infants Faint in the streets of the city. NKJV

  31. QUESTIONS: ISAIAH 22:1-4 WHY IS JEREMIAH CALLED ‘THE WEEPING PROPHET’? READ: LAMENTATIONS 4:3-6 3 Even the jackals present their breasts To nurse their young. But the daughter of my people is cruel, Like ostriches in the wilderness. 4 The tongue of the infant clings To the roof of its mouth for thirst. The young children ask for bread; No one breaks it for them. 5 Those who ate delicacies Are desolate in the streets. Those who were brought up in scarlet Embrace ash heaps. 6 The punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people Is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, Which was overthrown in a moment, With no hand to help her! NKJV READ: LAMENTATIONS 4:10 10 The hands of the compassionate women Have cooked their own children. They became food for them In the destruction of the daughter of my people. NKJV
