  12. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Friends in Christ: Let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

  13. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Our help is in the name of the Lord. C: ♫ He mádeheavên and earth. M: I said, I will confess my sins to the Lord. C: ♫ Then hé forgave the guilt of my sin.

  14. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION C: Almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor helpless sinner, confess to you all my sins, and repent of all the evil I have done. I have deeply displeased you and deserve your punishment in time and in eternity.

  15. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION But I am sorry for my sins, and I ask you, for the sake of the holy innocent sufferings and death of your dear Son Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me. Amen.

  16. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: I ask each of you in the presence of God who searches the heart: Do you confess that you have sinned, and do you repent of your sins? C: I do.

  17. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Do you believe that Jesus Christ has redeemed you from all your sins, and do you desire forgiveness in his name? C: I do.

  18. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Do you intend with the help of the Holy Spirit to live as in God's presence, and to strive daily to lead a holy life, even as Christ has made you holy? C: I do.

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Upon your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of the word, announce the grace of God to all of you, and on behalf of my Lord Jesus Christ , and by his command, I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the Son † and of the Holy Spirit.   27. PRAYER OF THE DAY M: Let us pray that we remain alert for the coming of the Lord. C: Jesus, Son of God, you have promised to return at a time that no one knows. Keep us watchful in prayer and strong in faith as we wait for you to come.

  28. PRAYER OF THE DAY For you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

  29. FIRST READING  R: The first reading for the first Sunday of Advent is written in chapter two of Isaiah beginning at verse one. Isaiah 2:1-5CEV God's kingdom of peace

  30. Isaiah 2:1-5  R: This is the message that I was given about Judah and Jerusalem: 2In the future, the mountain with the LORD'S temple will be the highest of all. It will reach above the hills; every nation will rush to it.

  31. Isaiah 2:1-5 3Many people will come and say, "Let's go to the mountain of the LORD God of Jacob and worship in his temple." The LORD will teach us his Law from Jerusalem, and we will obey him. 4He will settle arguments between nations. They will pound their swords and their spears into rakes and shovels; they will never make war or attack one another.

  32. Isaiah 2:1-5 5People of Israel, let's live by the light of the LORD. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  37. SECOND READING R: The second reading is written in chapter thirteen of Romans beginning at verse eleven. Romans 13:11-14 CEV Our salvation is near

  38. Romans 13:11-14 R: 11You know what sort of times we live in, and so you should live properly. It is time to wake up. You know that the day when we will be saved is nearer now than when we first put our faith in the Lord. 12Night is almost over, and day will soon appear.

  39. Romans 13:11-14 We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light. 13So behave properly, as people do in the day. Don't go to wild parties or get drunk or be vulgar or indecent. Don't quarrel or be jealous.

  40. Romans 13:11-14 14Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won't try to satisfy your selfish desires. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  46. Matthew 24:36-44 M: Jesus Said: 36No one knows the day or hour. The angels in heaven don't know, and the Son himself doesn't know. Only the Father knows.
