Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP)Restoring America’s Wetlands - Voluntary program that provides financial incentives to landowners to enhance wetlands in exchange for retiring marginal lands from agriculture. - Landowner paid lesser of - agricultural value of land - established payment cap - amount offered by landowner - USDA pays 100% of the restoration costs- USDA obtains conservation easement - Landowner retains title to land, pays taxes, retains rights to hunt, fish, quiet recreation, and other compatible uses.- $2100/acre total avg. national cost (land&restoration)
