What is the Sabra and Shatila massacre? ㆆThe Sabra and Shatila massacre was the genocide of Palestinians and Lebanese civilians, by Lebanese Christian Phalangist militia in the Sabra and Shatila Palestinian refugee camps. ㆆSabra and Shatila Palestinian refugee camps ㉪At that time, some Palestinian refugee camps were occupied by Israel. ㉪Sabra and Shatila were the places where Palestinian refugees established their camps in the Israeli occupied territory of Western Beirut.   3. What happened in Lebanon ? In Lebanon, there are Lebanese civil war between Christians and Muslim – PLO alliance. The war resulted in at least hundred thousand of deaths, damaged cities, and houses and shocked people.   5. Who were involved the massacre? Lebanese Christian Phalangist militia killed Palestinians and Lebanese Muslim civilians in the Sabra – Shatila refugee camps. Many various tribes live in Lebanon. Most of groups that caused conflicts were Palestinians, Christians, Muslims, Israelis. Palestinians have disputed to Israeli, because Israeli banished them out of Israeli territories. Palestinians made Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and combined with the Lebanese Muslim against Israeli.   6. Why did the massacre happen? Causes are differences of the religion and traditions. Bashir Gemayel who was elected Lebanese president newly and leader of the Lebanese militia, was assassinated by someone’s bombing terror. Lebanese Christian militia thought the Muslim – PLO alliance must did that.   7. When did it happen? The first conflict between Christian group and Muslim group started in May 1958. The Lebanese civil war started on April 13 1975, after the banished Palestinian refugees established the refugee camps in the Lebanon. In 1982, Palestinian refugees were killed by a ceasefire among Israel and Lebanon. The Lebanese civil war ended on October 13, 1990. Then, Israeli troops went over West Beirut to secure Muslim militia bases and step aside as Lebanese Christian militias massacred almost hundred of Palestinian refugees in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps.   9. How did it end? Lebanese government asked for ceasefire to Israeli forces in 1982. But a ceasefire was broken and many countries join this civil war for peace after them. Finally, Israel killed almost hundred of Palestinian and Lebanese Muslim civilians with the United Nations’ auxiliary troops. On September 13, 1990, the Lebanese civil war ended.
