  1. June 1, 2018 DEEP LEARNING TOP 5 Insights into the new computing model

  2. DEEP LEARNING IS THE FASTEST-GROWING FIELD IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

  3. AS AI TECHNOLOGIES CONTINUE TO IMPROVE, MORE COMPANIES ADOPT DEEP LEARNING TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESSES…

  4. TOP 5 1. Fusing high performance computing and AI 2. Find your next binge-worthy show with AI 3. The connection between self-driving vehicles and radiology 4. Robots are learning new tasks by mimicking humans 5. How AI could spot a silent cancer in time to save lives

  5. 1 FUSING HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING AND AI During GTC Taiwan 2018, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced HGX-2: a “building block” cloud-server platform that will let server manufacturers create more powerful systems around NVIDIA GPUs for high performance computing and AI. TechCrunch’s Ron Miller sums it up best, saying that: “It’s the stuff that geek dreams are made of. It’s a cloud server that is purported to be so powerful it combines high-performance computing with artificial intelligence requirements in one exceptionally compelling package.” READ ARTICLE Source: https://techcrunch.com/2018/05/30/nvidia-launches-colossal-hgx-2-cloud-server-to-power-hpc-and-ai/

  6. 2 FIND YOUR NEXT BINGE-WORTHY SHOW WITH AI While AI may play a leading role in the entertainment industry’s depictions of the future on screen, it’s already starring in entertainment behind the scenes, thanks to Netflix. Our latest AI Podcast features the company’s research and engineering director, Justin Basilico. “It wasn’t until recently in the past few years that really there’s kind of a paradigm shift where people are really starting to see the attraction in using [recommendations for deep learning].” LISTEN HERE Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2018/06/01/how-netflix-uses-ai/

  7. 3 CONNECTING SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES AND RADIOLOGY According to new commentary published in the Journal of American College of Radiology, AI implementation may not be as far as people believe, as seen in self- driving vehicles. “It is important to realize that many of these features are not far-future applications in radiology but will be incorporated into routine clinical practice over the next few years.” “In radiology, having AI perform the mundane tasks that humans may struggle with or find interminable…frees us to interact with the images in ways that can push the boundaries of diagnostic science. By using AI, we can add depth to our readings that can produce tangible benefits to patient care.” READ ARTICLE Source: http://www.radiologybusiness.com/topics/artificial-intelligence/what-can-self-driving-vehicles-teach-us-about-radiologys

  8. 4 TEACHING ROBOTS NEW TASKS BY MIMICKING HUMANS Researchers from NVIDIA have developed a unique deep learning system that allows a robot to learn a task based on the actions of a human. “A huge advantage with this approach is that it doesn't require researchers to input a large amount of labeled training data into the system. Instead, it generates data synthetically, which produces the labeled training data necessary for the robot to learn and complete tasks.” READ MORE Source: https://www.engadget.com/2018/05/21/nvidia-robots-deep-learning-learn-tasks/

  9. 5 HOW AI COULD SPOT A SILENT CANCER IN TIME TO SAVE LIVES With a 7% percent survival rate five years after diagnosis, pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the US. Dr. Elliot Fishman and his team at Johns Hopkins hospital are applying deep learning to improve a doctors' ability to detect the disease. “Our goal is early detection of pancreatic cancer, and that would save lives…We want to train the computer to be the best radiologist in the world.” READ MORE Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2018/05/21/ai-pancreatic-cancer/
