To build a common understanding of and commitment to servant leadership. • To collaborate various ideas for student activities and projects that can be utilized during the school year. • To develop leadership skills. • To gain an understanding of the student networking system, and of the responsibilities and duties of the members • To expand awareness, understanding, and utilization of the student networking system. SLW Desired Outcomes

  3. 22nd Annual Statewide Student Leadership Workshop • Theme: “Magic of Leadership” • Dates: July 15-17, 2010 • Housing/Meals: - University of Hawaii at Manoa • Attendance: - Students: 343 - Teachers: 40 - Largest SLW, so far 2010 SLW Highlights

Opening Session Speakers: - Senator Norman Sakamoto - Senator Colleen Hanabusa • General Session Speakers: a showcase of motivational and inspirational speakers. - Glenn Furuya, Speaker & Author - Keahi Tucker, Hawaii News Anchor - David A. Bramlett, Ret. US Army General - Marquita Thomas, Counselor/Advisor (Sale Creek School, Tennessee) Opening/General Sessions

  5. Part of the SLW program includes students working in small groups to develop and refine. • Facilitative Leadership/Interactive Method Skills • Time Management • Effective Decision-Making and Planning Strategies • Team Building Strategies • Idea Exchanges Small Group Sessions/Group Dynamics

  7. Various workshops conducted by community leaders • Students had the opportunity to select three workshops that they wanted to attend • Workshops: - Service Learning - Carole Iacovelli, Youth Service Hawaii - Celebrating Differences - LTC Antoinette Correia, JROTC Program Workshop Sessions

  8. - Parliamentary Procedure - Dr. William Puette/Rachel Glanstein - Public Relations - Jodi Perreira, Aloha United Way - OSCARs -Developing portfolios for student activities programs -Sherwin Pang, Moanalua High School Workshop Sessions

  9. - True Colors & Team Building - LTC Leslie Bise, JROTC Program - Interviews and Professionalism - LaniKaa/LigayaStice - Time Management - Naomi Masuno, Business Banker for First Hawaiian Bank - The Leadership Challenge - Keli’iAkina (President)/Katie Chang (Executive Director), Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders Workshop Sessions (Cont.)

  13. A Service Project Fair was conducted. Student leaders participated in presentations by various non-profit organizations: - Ground UP - Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps - Reynolds Recycling - Family Programs Hawaii Service Project

  14. - American Heart Association - Lokahi - Make a Wish Foundation - Parent Teacher Student Organization - Special Olympics - Hawaii Humane Society Service Project (Cont.)

  15. Installation of 2010-2011 HSSC Representatives: - Incoming Representatives took the oath of office July 17, 2010. • OSCARs Awards: - Schools who submitted a portfolio on their student activities program for the school year were recognized. Other Activities

  16. Participants completed a conference evaluation survey • At the end of each day student and adult planners had a debriefing and evaluating session. Evaluation
