Introduction • As part of the PGPLT Module Three, we have been asked to • create a resource for people interested in Work Based Learning • as a group based project • Group 3 Consists of: - Karl Hurn – Senior Lecturer, Product Design Sian Burgess - Senior Lecturer, Occupational Therapy Emma Hyde - Senior Lecturer, Imaging Darren Daly - HE Lecturer, Theatre Studies Chris Gradon - Lecturer, Motorsport Technology Presented by Karl Hurn

  3. As a group, we decided to • go with the suggested • pbwiki Blog route to get • our information across • Then we set about gathering • and creating different • useful resources from a • variety of sources Presented by Karl Hurn

  4. Documents on our Wiki • Relevant available documents were found and there electronic • versions linked to the Wiki, such as the HEA: Work-Based Learning • Report, the ESECT Report on WBL and the University of Derby • approaches to personalised curricula for WBL Presented by Sian Burgess

Documents on our Wiki • As well as this, we produced our • own mini overview guide as • a downloadable PowerPoint • document to WBL • This resource highlights • academic definitions of WBL • as well as the common • misconceptions and accepted • models of WBL. • It goes further to outline the advantages and • disadvantages of WBL to Employee, • Employer and the University Presented by Sian Burgess

Video Interviews on our Wiki • We also video interviewed • key members of staff within • the WBL unit at the University • of Derby and asked some • key questions about WBL • working practices • We have also included • University promotional video • material and a related interview • on Work Based Action Learning Presented by DarrenDaly

Pod Casts on our Wiki • An interview will be conducted with Ann Minton, LTW • coordinator On Monday 18th June 2007 with key questions being • asked about the main aspects of WBL from a University, • Employer and Employee point of view • In the interest of widening participation we have tried to include • a number of multimedia resources to suit the requirements of • as many different users as possible Presented by DarrenDaly

  9. Annotated Bibliography on our Wiki • Each of the members of the group is to contribute an • Annotated Reference of a Journal or Book related to WBL • These are listed in our Annotated Bibliography section, as • shown below: - Presented by Chris Gradon

  10. Blog Site Linked to our Wiki • We have created a Blog site http://workbasedlearning.uniblogs.org • and linked it to our Wiki page • It has separate discussions for • WBL Staff, Employers, Students • and PGPLT group members Presented by Karl Hurn

Conclusion – Ongoing Development • We will be continuing to add additional resources to the Wiki over • the coming months • Areas of development could include: - • Interviews with Students currently on WDL Schemes • On-line Questionnaires with feedback displayed • Forum/Blog for WBL Staff and Students Presented by Karl Hurn
