  2. Project Overview We will continue our study of outer space to help us report the moon phases to New Tech High School’s government class. The class has completed a Space Assessment and several students who have mastered the material are preparing electronic presentations of additional space topics. Students will also begin to compare measurement findings and tools.

Skills and Standards 2.1.6- Read aloud fluently and accurately 2.2.5- Restate facts and detail 2.2.3- Author’s Purpose Reading Our Moon Noise Level 1 • Monday • You will need a reading partner and a science book. • First, with your partner, open your Treasures book to pages 264 and 265 to discuss the Talk About It. Then read “Discover the Moon” to review your new vocabulary words and discuss compound words. • Tuesday • Begin reading The Moon, by Seymour Simon with your partner. Wednesday Finish reading The Moon with your partner. • Thursday Complete the comprehension activities. 4. Friday Complete and turn in the comprehension activity. • Materials Needed • Treasure Book • Comprehension Activities • Pencils Project Connection The Moon and its Phases What will happen if… I don’t get it. Self-Selected Reading / Accelerated Reader Skills and Standards 2.1.6- Read fluently 2.2.5- Restate facts and recall information SSR and AR points Noise Level 0 • Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. • Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. • Silently read . • After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. • Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. • If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. • Record your AR score in your Data Binder. . • Materials Needed • Data binder • Book of choice • Computer What will happen if… I don’t get it. Working with Words Skills and Standards 2.1.2- spelling patterns, contractions 2.2.11-ABC order Noise Level 1 • Monday • Complete the activity to practice your new spelling words. • Paper is in the binder • Tuesday • In your group, work with the leader to put your list in ABC order after you finish and turn in your practice on your new spelling words. • If you complete ABC order, look up the words in the dictionary to find their meanings and apply to your writing. • Wednesday • Fluency Practice- Use book provided • Thursday • Review for test on Friday- Spelling City • Friday • TEST!
