  1. iPHOTO: A quick intro

  2. IMPORTING INTO LIBRARY • Importing from email, picture MUST first be on your computer. Its easiest to import once picture has been DRAGGED onto desktop. • In iPhoto > File > Import to Library • Another window will open, select your DESKTOP and select import -FROM INTERNET (next page) -CD, FLASH OR EXTERNAL HD -EMAIL (right) -CAMERA, IPOD, IPHONE NOTE: ALWAYS ENSURE ALL PHOTOS ARE IMPORTED BEFORE DELETING ORIGINALS

  3. Pictures from the internet can be imported directly into iPhoto Library by simply RIGHT CLICKING and selecting “Add image to iPhoto Library”

  4. Events and Albums • Think of Events like the shoe box of old photos. EVERYTHING is in there. • WATCH OUT! Deleting a picture from your Events will permanently delete the picture from iPhoto • Albums are the workplace where those special photos are placed in order to enhance, edit and create memories to display • Its Okay…To delete a picture from your Album and it will still EXIST in your Events

  5. Merging Events • Select both Events by holding down command key and clicking with cursor • In top Menu bar, under Events, select merge events • To undo a merge, select Event you want to split, in top Menu bar, under Events, select Autosplit Selected Events

  6. Exporting Events • Select Event, in top Menu, under File, select Export • Why Export? To easily upload to a blog, or email without using the Mail Application within the MacOS • A pop up window will open where you can select how you want to export the Event. Perfect for batch resizing!

  7. Creating Albums • Select one or an entire EVENT • Smart Albums (right) are created by parameters you set • i.e. Keywords, My Rating, Faces, etc

  8. Editing- Quick Fixes • Rotate: entire photo rotates in 90 degree angle, counterclockwise increments • Enhance: automaically levels the photos absorption of blue, red and green within photo • Fix Red Eye: replaces red or flash with black. Automatic or manual implementation • HINT: hold down shift to view unaltered photo

  9. Editing- Quick Fixes • Straighten: adjusts entire photo via grid and angles. Best to use when horizon is off • Crop: re-center members in photo or remove unwanted fore/background • Retouch: remove blemishes • Note: To zoom on specific areas on photo, move indicator L to R, towards the larger photo. Use the navigator (right top)to move to various pars of the zoomed photo (right bottom)

  10. FAQs How do I delete a photo? Select one of the photo (or many) and hit delete. Remember deleting photos from Albums is not permanent, but deleting from Events is. What if I accidentally import a photo twice? Default settings are set to ask if you want a duplicate photo. If not, then it’ll name it IMG_123.jpg(2). The (2) indicates another photo with the same File Name in your Library.

  11. FAQs When is it okay for me to delete an album or project? There is no time table for when you are done with an album or project. Know that if you delete these albums or projects, any edits will be lost. You can export an album or project to separate media (HD) if you want to save your work. I want to undo some edits to a photo, can I return it to the original photo? Yes and know that all changes will be lost. To do this, in top Menu, under Edit, select Revert to Original
