  3. About nuclear materials management Nuclear Materials Management is the act, manner or practice of effectively managing, handling, supervising, and/or controlling nuclear material and other related nuclear scientific technology and knowledge associated with civilian nuclear fuel cycle.

  4. About INMM The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management was established in 1958 and represents more than 1,200 members in more than 30 countries around the globe. It is dedicated to the professional quality, ethics, and advancement of its membership. It hosts an Annual Meeting in July, which draws a wide, international attendance for key plenary talks, many sessions of contributed technical presentations, commercial exhibitors, and numerous opportunities for related side meetings. The Institute also sponsors a variety of topical meetings throughout the year. The INMM publishes the Journal of Nuclear Materials Management quarterly, featuring peer-reviewed, scholarly articles from its membership.

  5. INMM VISION & Mission Vision The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management will be the leading international professional society for the stewardship of nuclear materials and related technologies to enhance global security. Mission The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management is dedicated to the safe, secure and effective stewardship of nuclear materials and related technologies through the advancement of scientific knowledge, technical skills, policy dialogue, professional capabilities, and best practices.

  6. INMM Executes Its Mission Through Six Technical Divisions • Facility Operations • International Safeguards • Materials Control and Accountability • Nonproliferation and Arms Control • Nuclear Security and Physical Protection • Packaging, Transportation and Disposition www.inmm.org

  7. Technical divisions are the focal point for activities and information within specialties INMM Technical Divisions • Provide advice to INMM’s Executive Committee on issues that affect the technical divisions • Help design the technical program for the Institute's annual meeting • Encourage the publication of articles within their topical areas • Organize topical workshops, seminars and educational activities www.inmm.org

  8. Technical divisions Nuclear Security and Physical Protection Technical Division Promotes the advancement of responsible integrated physical protection of nuclear materials in use, storage, and transport. The division addresses not only the primary physical security areas of detection, delay, response, vulnerability analysis and the technologies that support them, but a wide variety of other related disciplines and responsibilities. The Division is the focal point for INMM information and activities related to the integrated protection of nuclear materials, nuclear facilities, and other applicable high value assets and facilities. Facility Operations Technical Division Provides a forum for an exchange of knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned among those involved in nuclear facilities’ operations in both commercial and government sectors. This division is committed to the promotion and advancement of safe and secure nuclear material operations in reactors and processing facilities throughout the world. Focus includes activities and information related to complete fuel cycle operations, from mining through final product, and all phases of nuclear material operations, including planning, management and storage.

  9. Technical divisions International SafeguardsTechnical Division Provides a forum for the exchange of information on the continuing development of international safeguards within the nonproliferation regime and for the enhancement of a broad understanding of the implementation and effectiveness of safeguards. The division examines technical issues, facilitates publication of studies related to safeguards, and supports workshops on the advancement of safeguards technology and procedures. Materials Control and Accountability Technical Division Provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and work to improve and standardize approaches for the accounting and control of nuclear material. The division is the focal point for Measurement User Groups in the areas of Destructive Analysis and Non-Destructive Assay both of whom work to improve measurement capability. It also serves as a focal point for the INMM N15 Accredited Standards Committee, which supports international standards for materials control and accountability methods and approaches.

  10. Technical divisions Nonproliferation and Arms Control Technical Division Promotes the advancement of research and development efforts in support of international arms control and nonproliferation through applying nuclear materials research and management to arms control, nonproliferation, and treaty verification, as well as to transparency measures aimed at furthering international stability. The division provides a forum for the exchange of information on associated methods and technologies. Packaging, Transportation and Disposition Technical Division Promotes the advancement of technology involved in the packaging, transportation and waste management of radioactive materials and its successful application to the solution of packaging, transportation and waste management problems around the world. This includes the packaging, transportation, storage, handling, processing, and disposal of all levels of radioactive sources, all forms of source and special nuclear materials, spent nuclear fuel, materials containing induced radioactivity, all levels of radioactive waste and contaminated materials.
