Nurses • Nurses protect, promote, optimize health, prevent illness and injury, and advocate for patients and their families. • Nurses provide care in hospitals, homes, community clinics, and at schools. • Nursing is the highest workforce amongst healthcare workers, and is considered one of the most admiring careers in America. • Nursing is a career without borders, without color, and without gender difference. • Nursing is about those whose father, mother, brother, sister, or child you have saved or care for on a daily basis. Not a day goes by that you don’t hear a thank you.

Diversity • Minorities are needed in nursing. • Only 6.6% of the nursing population are males, and only 16% are minorities. • 6.6% = 200,000 males out of 3.06 million licensed RN. • 16% = 490,000 minorities out of 3.06 million licensed RN. • Hispanics are the fastest rising minority group in the US yet it only represents about 2% of the total nursing population (54,861).

  5. Advantages of a nursing career • Working hours- 12hr shifts x 3 days is full time. • National license • Can work in other parts of the world. • Salary average of $60,000/yr • Nursing Shortage in 2020 which guarantees jobs. • Opportunities in nursing career are endless.

  6. Flight nurses • Transport Trauma Patients • Gun shot wounds • Motor Vehicle Accidents • Burns • The Most Critical Patients

  7. Armed Force nurses • Provide Front Line Care • Provide care to the wounded soldiers at base. • They Are Also Soldiers

  8. ER nurse • Provides emergency acute care. • Adrenaline rush with every case. • Immediate life care is in your hands.
