  2. DAY 2 SUMMARY • NWP post processing and nowcasting • NOAA AWG cloud height and optical properties during SAAWSO • Satellite winds and cloud top products for dendritic ice growth • Environment Canada’s Pan-Canadian 2.5 km deterministic Prediction System • EC satellite network and NPP reception status • Snowfall rates retrieval using satellite passive microwave measurements/algorithms • Satellite applications at the EC Remote Sensing and Nowcasting National Lab

  3. DISCUSSION ITEMS-1 SAAWSO OBSERVATIONS AVAILABILITY? IMPROVE MICROPHYSICAL ALGORITHMS AND VALIDATE GOES-R PRODUCTS INTEGRATE NWP POSTPROCESSING DATA WITH SATELLITE OBSERVATIONS/RETRIEVALS? NEEDS FOR LOW CLOUD APPLICATIONS BASED ON SATELLITE DATA? IMPORTANCE OF LARGE SCALE DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS RELATED TO STORM PREDICTION PREDICT PRECIP INTENSITY AND TYPE USING SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AND CURRENT SATELLITE PRODUCTS IMPROVE THE MEASUREMENTS OVER THE ARCTIC REGIONS

  4. DISCUSSION ITEMS-2 • Preparation of blog • Web sites to be shown at the SAAWSO project website. • SAR wind analysis need to be accessible. • Satellite Passive Microwave measurements. • Next year workshop at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. • Open more communications among the participants • What are the algorithms/parameterizations that can be used for NWP operations • Preparation of Arctic SAAWSO IOP3 • Instruments/observations for IOP3 • Publications/special issue
