  2. The Basics • Ethan Derner started the Alameda Kinder Paints project • The project was getting his daughters kindergartner class to help paint a mural • Ethan had noticed a retaining wall near the school that was constantly being tagged, and wanted to change that

  3. The Idea • Ethan would appear to be just an everyday dad, but he stepped up • He wanted the best for his children, which included their environment • This retaining wall needed some love

  4. The Obstacles • As with most projects, you tend to hit a few bumps along the road • One of main problems was funding • Along with getting all the required permits to put up a mural, which involved jumping through hoops! • And of course the legalists of it all

  5. But alas, it all came together • All the kindergarten classes got to come out and paint • So many people pitched in to help in any way they could

  6. ~Team Work~

  7. Outcomes • This project brought the community together • It taught kids the importance of artwork and team work • It proved that if you are willing to put in the effort, you can have a positive effect in the community
