  2. Assertion In Act I, Scenes 5 and 7 of Shakespeare’s MacBeth, indirect characterization through dialogue is used to divulge information about MacBeth and Lady MacBeth’s personalities.

  3. Example 1 Lady MacBeth’s monologue (lines 40 – 50), depicts her as a ruthless woman determined to get what she thinks she deserves.

  4. Explanation 1 Pull lines from the text to show her ruthless nature and make sure that you also explain in your own words what they mean.

  5. Example 2 Write your own with regard to what Lady MacBeth’s speech in Act I, Scene 5 and his own monologue in Scene 7 reveals about MacBeth’s pesonality.

  6. Explanation 2 Choose lines from either monologue that prove your statement about MacBeth’s persona through the eyes of Lady MacBeth. Again, make sure that you also explain the lines in your own words.

  7. Significance Create your own, but make sure to tie it back to the idea presented in your Assertion: Indirect Characterization reveals much about the two main characters.
