  • He was a kinsman of Barnabas
  • When christened, he was the godson of Saint Peter the Apostle

  • Mark’s gospel was written sometime between AD 65 and 70.
  • This is important because during this time there was a Jewish Revolt against Rome (AD 66-70).

  • Mark’s audience for this Gospel was Gentile Christians who were suffering from persecution for their beliefs in Jesus.
