What has been achieved • Memorandum of Understanding - agreement • Access Asia and Leading 21st Century School: Engage with Asia • Language Learning Program – differentiated model • Language Learning spaces/classrooms established • Creation of student videos – daily life in Melbourne – sharing on wiki • Establishing a multicultural playgroup Maximising In-country Experiences

What has been achieved • A greater awareness and appreciation from a teacher’s perspective • Understanding and appreciation of cultural similarities and differences • Cultural awareness of our neighbouring countries • Understanding of the Chinese education system • Mandarin program for Melbourne participants • 10 schools – positive and constructive relationships formed Maximising In-country Experiences

What changes have we observed in our school? • Greater understanding of the power of oral language pedagogy • Appreciation of the language learning program • Explicit teaching pedagogy – contextualised • Growing community interest in the partnership • Greater understanding about the National Curriculum - cross curriculum priorities Maximising In-country Experiences

Long Term Plans and Aspirations • Second visit – extremely productive • Partnership with Suzhou – continue to strengthen the relationship – sharing understandings & ideas • Further strengthen the language learning program • Expand the multilingual playgroup • Further develop the cross curriculum priorities – authenticity in all three areas • Greater appreciation for cultural understanding – local, national and international perspectives Maximising In-country Experiences
