  1. TYPES OF NARRATIVE LEADS

  2. The ACTION Lead A loud crash in the night woke me out of a sound sleep, and I began to quiver! Shaking, my mind churning, I pulled my wobbly self out of bed and turned the handle on the bedroom door. The sound of the crash caused everyone to jump. Shards of glass flew across the room. The campers were in a hysteria. All they could see was blood trickling down my panic-stricken face.

  3. The DIALOGUE Lead “Where’s Dad! Spot’s been hit by a car!” His face was as white as a sheet. “I can’t blink! I can’t blink!” Every time I closed my eyes, all I could feel was glass scratching my skin. With fear overwhelming me, all I could utter were these three words over and over.

  4. The SETTING DESCRIPTION Lead Above the lights of the city, I could see for miles; calming lights as far as you could see. I’ll never forget the light of that beautiful far-away city. It was a dark and starry night at Camp Horn’s Creek. War cries echoed through the stillness as the water balloon battle began. The smell of shaving cream and water mixed with unknown substances filled the air. All of a sudden, a crash was heard coming from the small wooden cabin on top of the lonely hill.

  5. The REFLECTION Lead I still remember the feeling; floating across the strong, smooth surface, the icy wind biting at my face. I remember the sheer terror. I didn’t know exactly what happened. All I knew was that blood was pouring down my face, and my eyes crunched when I blinked. The fear that I felt was unbearable.
