  2. Master of Arts in Teaching The MAT program is designed for those with a four year degree who wish to become teachers in either high schools or middle schools and gain an advanced degree while working through an induction program. The program is designed to permit those with a provisional certificate to be in the classroom during the school year, taking graduate courses at LaGrange College after the school day and during two summer courses.

Each student will have mentors from among the Education Faculty, Arts & Sciences Faculty, and faculty from Troup County high schools and middle schools, who share in developing all candidates into exemplary professionals. The primary objective of the program is for those with bachelors’ degrees in areas of middle grades and secondary certification to receive their initial teaching preparation at the Masters level.
