Pyramid Model for adults • Relationships will change • Not just on the surface niceties • The environment has to support the change • Safe for tough conversations around challenging situations and children • Some adults will need to learn new social skills • Appropriate ways of sharing when things are a problem • There will be adults with challenging behaviors

  3. Director/board/management support is imperative. • Clear messages to all staff • This will not go away • We expect continuous improvement • Ability to shift resources to support the process • Ability to provide time for staff to work • Understanding that policy and procedure must change to support the process • Understanding that it will take a lot of time to implement well

  4. Ongoing training • Well trained workforce • Specific training in the modules • Coaching implementing the strategies with fidelity

  5. External Coach • Strong background in Early childhood • Strong background in behavior • Understanding that the Pyramid Model matches adults too • Coaching and systems change understanding is very helpful

  6. Internal Coach • Staff person who understands your program and staff • Supported by management to implement with fidelity • Can learn coaching skills and systems change • Time to do coaching in classrooms • Time to work with the leadership team

  7. Leadership team • A wide range of representation from your building staff • Training on the role of the leadership team as well as the modules • Time to work as a team • Resources to implement

  8. Resources • Financial commitment to make or provide the resources for use in classrooms • Visuals, social skills curriculum, social skills screening resources • Time to work as leadership teams and classroom teams • Ways of shifting staff to help cover as we deal with challenging children

  9. Systems Change • This is a continuous improvement model • Anything can be done better • We are never finished
