  1. Mockingjay By Suzanne Collins Zayer Imam

  2. About the Author • Before writing, she worked on cartoons. When she met author James Primos, she decided to give books a try. • Suzanne Collins lives in Connecticut with her family and cats. • She also wrote the Underland Chronicles.

  3. Setting • The settings are District 13, District 12, District 2, and the Capitol. • The beginning of the story takes place in District 13. • The end of the story takes place in the Capitol.

  4. Characters • The main character and narrator of the story is Katniss Everdeen. • Another important character is Gale, Katniss’s friend. • Peeta, Katniss’s boyfriend and Prim, Katniss’s sister are also important to the story.

  5. Plot • Katniss has disobeyed the Capitol several times. • Katniss is the main target for the Capitol. • Katniss is working with District 13.

  6. Conflict/Resolution • District 13 vs. The Capitol • District 13 is trying to overthrow the Capitol for power. District 13 wants to do this so that the Capitol can’t be cruel to them ever again. • Katniss vs. The Capitol • The Capitol is trying to hurt Katniss any way possible so that she won’t be able to help District 13.

  7. Theme • The theme of this story is to sometimes do what you think is right. • If there is something you think is wrong or unnecessary, don’t do it. If there is something you you believe you can do better, than do it. There is no harm in trying. • This connects to the story because Katniss didn’t always do what she was told to do. She didn’t do some things that District 13 told her to do.

  8. Personal Book Report • Mockingjay is a good book but starts out very slow in the first one-hundred pages. It is filled with excitement, action, and a good story. Mockingjay is a good book, but not amazing. I recommend it to the more mature audience.
