DBS Checks • Since December 2012 – DBS not CRB • New definition of Regulated Activity- This will affect who is eligible for a DBS check and which level of check do they require. • The introduction of Single Disclosures – Only the applicant will receive a copy of their DBS Certificate. • The introduction of the DBS Update service- This service will keep a subscribed individual’s DBS Certificate continually up to date, allowing instant online checks and enabling portability (when certain criteria is met). • DBS section on EHA website

  5. DBS checking through EHA • Via online partner TMG CRB • Send full name, email address and details of role (paid/volunteer) • Applicant receives email with instructions • ID verification (original documentation only) • Processed by DBS • Applicant receives certificate • EHA can see if completed and if any content

  6. SG advice/support • Any content on DBS • Writing policies etc • Training coaches/officials • Any incidents or concerns – poor practice • Case management

  7. Role as a Club Welfare Officer • Each club is required to have a specific nominee • You are the first point of contact for anyone who has a SG concern within your club environment • You are the point of contact for information/updates from the EHA • Together we are the proactive workforce to try and reduce risk but also investigate and deal swiftly with any concerns • Any specific skills very welcome for the Case Management panel

  8. Engaging with U18 • Raise profile of SG within handball • Make sure that all U18 know who to contact • Assure that all concerns are confidential but will be addressed • Promote good practice • Poster/flyer design
