  1. Oct. 27, 2014 • S-Sit and organize materials for the lesson… Get your journal, Springboard book and a sharpened pencil. • E-Examine and follow teacher’s directions…On your next blank page, write today’s date at the top. Title this page ~ Lesson 7-1 Modeling and Writing 2-step Inequalities • T-Take the challenge! Write the CQ in journal below the title: Challenge Question: What is the difference between an equation and an inequality? • Warm-up: Write and solve the equation modeled (on the right). Then, graph the solution on a number line. = a variable = +1

  2. Presentation 6x - 11 = 19 + 11 = 11 6x =30 6 6 x = 5

  3. Presentation b. 2/3 y + 3 = 29 - 3 = -3 2/3 y =26 (3/2) 2/3y= 26(3/2) y = 39

  4. Presentation c. -9

  5. Presentation a.) 10; check students’ graphs

  6. Presentation b.) 4; check students’ graphs

  7. Presentation 500+115n= 2,685 N=19

  8. Presentation I prefer the algebraic method rather than guess and check, because guess and check involves much more checking and time.

  9. Presentation 6x - 11 = 19 Manny has saved $26 toward buying a bicycle that cost $91. He can save $13 per week. How many weeks will he have to save in order to buy the bicycle?

  10. Presentation Use the Frayer Model provided to help you take notes

  12. Presentation We have practiced graphing solutions to equations (or equalities). Here are 4 graphs of inequalities. Look at the graphs… when do you color in the circle and when do you leave it open?

  13. Presentation 15.99x + 9.99 ≤ 100.00 - 9.99 -9.99 15.99x ≤ 90.01 15.99 15.99 X ≤ 5.629 So would that be 5 or 6 DVDs?

  14. Learning Together How long do we have to complete the activity: 5 mins What do I do? You will complete the Lesson 7-1 #s 1-3 on pg. 67. We will go over the correct answers in 5 minutes.

  15. Learning Together Writing an inequality is an equation without an equal sign (use one of the inequality symbols instead) Look at your equation from #3 to help you write the inequality How long do we have to complete the activity: 7 mins What do I do? You will complete the Lesson 7-1 #s 4-5 on pg. 67. We will go over the correct answers in 7minutes.

  16. Learning Together How long do we have to complete the activity: 20 mins What do I do? You will complete the Lesson 7-1 #s 6-10 on pg. 68. We will go over the correct answers in 20 minutes.

  17. Learning Together How long do we have to complete the activity: 10 mins What do I do? You will discuss the different situations that your group wrote in 10 mins.

  18. Just For Me How long do we have to complete the activity: 10 minutes What do I do? You will complete the Check Your Understanding questions 12-13 on pg. 69. We will go over the correct answers in 10 minutes.

  19. Assessment How long do we have to complete the activity: 10 minutes What do I do? Look back at your Frayer Model now that you have completed Activity 7-1. Is there anything you want to add? If so, do it now. Answer the CQ in your journal. We’ll discuss answers in a few minutes.
