Definitions • Lesion: A localized pathological change in a bodily organ or tissue • Aphasia: Partial or total loss of the ability to articulate ideas or comprehend spoken language, resulting from damage to the brain caused by injury or disease • Wenicke’s Area: An area in the posterior temporal lobe of the left hemisphere of the brain involved in the recognition of spoken words

Definitions cont. • Broca’s Area: An area located in the frontal lobe usually of the left cerebral hemispohere and associated with the motor control of speech • Arcuate fasciculus: The neural pathway connecting the posterior part of the temporoparietal junction with the frontal cortex in the brain
