  1. CMS 2010 and Prospects for 2011-12 Z EVIAN 2010 8 December 2010 Guido Tonelli CERN/INFN&University of Pisa

  2. LHC and CMS operations in pp 2010. About 47pb-1 delivered by LHC and ~43pb-1of data collected by CMS. Overall data taking efficiency ~92%. 6pb-1of data integrated in a good fill. Excellent performance in coping with more than 5 order of magnitude increase in instantaneous luminosity. L≈ 2x1032cm-2s-1 L≈ 1027cm-2s-1 Average fraction of operational channels per CMS sub-system still ~99%. 6pb-1 of data integrated in the best fills.

  3. Re-discovered the Standard Model at 7TeV

  4. 2011 scenarios of delivered Luminosity

  5. The reward: Physics Prospects for the 2011-12 Run. W’ and Z’ up to the MultiTeV region. Discover SUSY if masses of squarks and gluinos <1-1.2TeV 6

  6. Prospects for the Higgs search in 2011-12 24 The reach of CMS 2011 has been re-evaluated; considering for the moment only cut based analysis and the most promising channels: with 10fb-1 at 8 TeV we can discover the Higgs over the mass range between ~115 and ~600GeV. The effort to prepare technically the combination of the results with ATLAS just started.

  8. The first ZZ4m event All 4 muons from the same vertex: µ-1 48.1; µ+2 43.4 GeV µ+3 25.9; µ−4 19.6 GeV

  9. The first ZZ4m event Just a reminder… Probability to find such an event in the first 22pb-1 of data: 16%.

  10. 2011: there is magic in the air…
