Savonia UAS develops the region: • by training skilled personnel according to regional needs, • by performing applied research, development and innovation activities • by catering for the work and business life needs (e.g. training personel, testing/modelling) • by collaborating with the work and businesslife (e.g. projects, thesis work, work placement) • by training, educating and encouraging in entreprenesship, • by anticipating and reforming its expertise (e.g. apprenticeship-type professional higher education) • by participating in the strategy work of the region, • by participating in the regional centre and centre of expertise programmes • by increasing international interaction and • by connecting networks into the regional development work.

  16. Task of the competence networks • Savonia’s education and RDI activities are focused and profiled as competence networks. • Resources are targeted to competence networks • specialization and roles selected against the national landscape, • prospects for livelihoods, economy and services.

  17. Part of strategy operational policy of the competence networks 1/2 • Most of Savonia’s RDI is implemented in the competence networks. • Networks are linked to work life and they produce innovative solutions and services. They facilitate student’s training to become experts in their field.

Part of strategy operational policy of the competence networks 2/2 • Basis of the comptence networks is in the expertise of several degree programmes. • These networks connect research and teaching staff and the students in joint development projects. • Master’s degree programme is part of each comptence network. International dimension is characteristic to it .
