  2. Purpose of this Presentation The purpose of this presentation is to give you an overview of the changes to remote access at the firm. The presentation is divided into three parts: • Part One – Using this Presentation, provides an overview of how to use this presentation • Part Two – Feature Review, gives an overview of the new features and changes • Part Three –Remote Access Demo, demonstrates the login process through an automated demo 2

Feature Review - Overview What is Remote Connect? • Remote Connect combines the best of the old remote access solutions with several new enhancements • The old Employee Remote Access Portal page will be replaced with a streamlined version with two options • Most enhancements to working remotely affect firm laptop users 7

  8. Feature Review - Overview The goal of Remote Access is to provide a variety of tools to suit the way you work outside the office. While there are several options, the easiest way to choose what is best for you is to start with how you are connecting. 8

  9. Feature Review - Overview You are connecting from one of two types of equipment: • A Firm Laptop – a standard Desktop 2.0 imaged WGM Laptop • A Non-Firm Computer – any computer that does not have the standard Desktop 2.0 WGM image 9

  10. Feature Review - Overview Firm Laptop users: • will experience the greatest enhancements when using VPN outside of the office • have the option to use VPN or WGM Remote/Citrix • have the flexibility of having easy access to local installations of software • can access iNotes 10

  11. Feature Review - Overview Non-Firm Computer users: • have access to WGM Remote/Citrix which provides the flexibility of working with a “virtual electronic desktop”, allowing access to standard firm applications • can use iNotes, the web version of Lotus Notes mail to check email 11

  12. Enhancements for All Remote Users • New Employee Login Page with fewer options • Streamlined login process – same login steps for all solutions (VPN, iNotes, WGM Remote/Citrix) • Updated online help documentation 12

  13. Enhancements for Firm Laptop Users Enhanced VPN capability allows you to login remotely and have access to everything as you do in the office. This includes: • ANY documents on the firm network, including files on your H:/ drive, Docs Open, and any other mapped drive locations • ANY Notes database or application • ANY internal firm web applications like WeilNet, New Matters, the Portal, HR Direct, Firm Directory, etc. • ANY research tools (Lexis, Westlaw, etc.) • Sametime awareness (show active status when working outside the office) • Litigation Support applications and tools (access images remotely) 13

  14. Old and New Together • Remote Connect is available now as an option on the Remote Access Portal Page • The “old” and “new” options for working remotely will be available for a brief preview period • Remote Connect will replace the Remote Access Portal Page permanently within a few months 14

Click the link shown for more information about passcodes Passcode This is part of a larger security initiative (RSA SecurID) that will be introduced in the next few months For now, type 000000 (six zeros) for passcode 000000 23

Ready for a Demo? • Now that you have reviewed the changes to accessing the firm’s remote solutions take a few minutes to watch a demo on the login process. • Remote Connect and the changes to the login process will become the new way to work remotely. • Take advantage of this “Preview” period to get acquainted with the changes. 24

  28. Remote Connect from a Firm Laptop • A firm laptop is defined as a Desktop 2.0 standard WGM imaged laptop • This includes loaner laptops • Firm laptops not converted to Desktop 2.0 will function remotely as if connecting from a non-firm computer 28

  29. Initial Steps to Connect from a Firm Laptop • Power up the laptop • Login using your network username and password • Don’t forget to check “Workstation Only” jonesj ******  29

  30. Initial Steps to Connect from a Firm Laptop • Connect to the Internet • Use IBM Access Connections (Broadband or Wifi) • or • IPass Connect (Start menu | All Programs | WGM Utilities | Remote Access Toolkit) 30

  35. Host Checker Host Checker looks to see if you are connecting from firm laptop or non-firm computer The first time you login, a small series of files will install You will also see the following security warning – click Always 35

  36. Launching Network Connect Network Connect creates a secure connection into the Weil network. Once connected, a Network Connect icon will appear on the system tray. 36

  37. You’re almost done… a series of blank pop up windows will appear and disappear. 37

  38. Connection Successful! Close (or minimize) this window to use programs on your laptop. You can also click the link provided to access WGM Remote/Citrix You are now fully connected and ready to work. 38

  39. Remote Access Toolkit Remote Access menu options have been grouped together in the Remote Access Toolkit Note the option for Remote Connect Log Out – use this to end your remote access session. 39

A Few Things About Working in VPN • Firm and special applications installed on your laptop are available • You have access to your network drives, just as you do in the office • In Lotus Notes, use the location document “Connected” • Installed printers are available • Firm’s internet browsing policy is in effect 40
