  1. 1. Today • 740 BC God called Isaiah to be a prophet • The purpose of a prophet was to call people back to God through repentance • Isaiah 2:6, “They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans. Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands.” We’ve got it made but we choose to live full of silver and gold and empty – hollow – meaningless.”

  2. 2. The Day • The unacceptable has become acceptable • The supremacy of the God of Israel • All nations will stream ‘up hill’ to worship God • Philippians 2:9-11, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” • God will reorder the world for peace

  3. 3. The Way • Luke 2:18 says that they ‘were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.’ Amazed because of the miracle that took place.” • To be ‘amazed’ opens the door for faith • Isaiah 2:5, “Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.” • John 1:9, Identifies Jesus as the “true light that gives light to every man.”

  4. 3. The Way • Many people were not amazed by Jesus’ birth • Many were just too busy to notice • Look for the light beams of God at work
