BACKGROUND TO ILT STAFF DEVELOPMENT 6.5 yrs • Multimedia Development Unit (MDU) Established • In-house formal and informal sessions • Compulsory Staff Development Days • MDU rebranded as Learning Technologies Team • Focus shift from technology skills to pedagogy • ILT Practice Room 4 yrs 2 yrs 19 mths College acquires FPP license 11 mths 4 mths

  3. DELIVERY MODELS • Three distinct delivery models Target Audiences Rationale / Aims Methods Materials

JEB DELIVERY MODEL • Level 4 Qualification ‘Transforming Learning with ILT’ • Delivered to Advanced Practitioners (compulsory) • Provide deeper understanding of appropriate ILT use • 35 weeks @ 2 hours per week • Delivery materials specific to organisation • Assignments could not be adapted • Skills development mainly in ‘surgery’ time

FACE TO FACE DELIVERY MODEL • ILT Staff Development for Centres of Vocational Excellence • Deliver to Staff from same Subject Areas • Support use of new equipment and basic ILT • Effective use of ILT was core • 2 days of intensive delivery covering 9 modules • Materials adapted to be subject and organisation specific • Hands on approach with traditional delivery

ONLINE DELIVERY MODEL • All teaching staff working with ILT • Provide flexible access to ILT Staff Development Materials • Provide cohesive ILT advice and guidance • Intranet / VLE Delivery • Themed Materials (reordering of modules) • Contextualised Content • Integration with existing resources

SMALL GROUP ACTIVITY • Each of 3 groups will be asked to look at one of the delivery models in detail. • Please consider the following points so the whole group may discuss: • In your organisation, what can you identify as the pros and cons of the model ? • How could your organisation (or you) support the needs of individual staff being trained ?

  8. WHOLE GROUP DISCUSSION • We will look at each delivery model in turn. • The presenters will inform you of Bedford College’s outcomes for each model as they are discussed. • There will be time for more general questions at the end of the session.
