  3. Ivy Tech LTA Degree Program Associate of Science Degree 64 credits Transfers to IUPUI & other 4-year colleges • Two options (yellow handout) • Technology • Children’s Services

Details • All Library Courses – Only Online Available statewide & nationally • Schedule (white handout) • Cost—$433.65 per course (plus textbooks) • Financial Aid –available at 6 credits (2 courses) or more • Dates • Summer - Registration ends May 20th Classes begin – June 6th • Fall - Registration ongoing now Classes begin – August 22nd

Certification for Indiana LibrariesWebjunction/Public Library Certification Professional assistant is defined to include positions in which a person devotes more than half of his or her time to work that calls for: • 1. knowledge of professional library practice, collections and of technical library processes; • 2. ability to deal with people in a professional capacity as distinguished from clerical; and • 3. includes, but not limited to, staff classified as librarians, paraprofessionals, catalogers, reference assistants, program coordinators and department heads responsible for professional library duties.

Indiana: LC: Library Certification • LC1-3: ALA-MLS plus: • 1: 6-10 years experience • 2: 3 years experience • 3: No experience • Directors: • LC1: population > 40,000 • 28 libraries • LC2: pop. 10-39,999 • 77 libraries LC4: Bachelors, 15 hours library science courses LC5: Assoc. degree or 60 hours, + 9 hours library science LC6: High School/GED and (5 years experience OR 9 hours library science) Courses available at Ivy Tech & IU/SLIS
