  3. RAFT: Iwo Jima Directions: You are a Japanese Soldier in the midst of The Battle for Iwo Jima. Write your last letter home to either a family member or friend describing your experience. Be sure to address the three Questions/Prompts below in your letter. Questions/Prompts to address within your letter: 1.) Describe your experience during the Battle of Iwo Jima - example: loss of life, preparing for the invasion, your thoughts and feelings 2.) Explain the significance of invasion - example: Beginning of the end for Japanese, Island is part of Japanese homeland, Hope 3.) Describe the preparation stage of the battle, your orders, and plans - Landscape, Japanese refusal to surrender, Mt. Write a letter home to either a family member or friend describing your experience. Be sure to address the three Questions/Prompts below in your letter. RAFT: NWO Directions: You are the leader of the “New World Order” write a speech to be heard by all the citizens and peoples of the entire world describing your goals and objectives for the “New World Order”. Be sure to address the Questions/Prompts below in your speech. Background/Contextual Information: The year is 2040. The world is in political, economic, and social chaos. Famine and disease have resulted in the deaths of millions. The world's economy has collapsed. Terrorist organizations and military dictatorships are gaining increasing amounts of control. People have lost faith their nation's governments and leadership. Small wars like that in Iraq and Afghanistan have plagued the world for the past 50 years. In recent years the “New World Order”, consisting of the former United States, the former European Union, and other nations has risen to power promising a new way, and you are its leader. Questions/Prompts to address within your letter: 1.) Describe your goals and objectives for the “New World Order” and the rest of the world. - example: Economic goals, political goals, social goals 2.) Explain the beliefs and ideology of the “New World Order”. - example: Membership, major Institutions and organizations, etc. 3.)
