Judaism • The Jewish people, back in the Roman days, would have to change their religion if the new leader believed in a different religion. • Jewish were Polytheists, which means that they believe in one god. • The Diaspora Jews were Jews who had scattered and were a lot less stricter than the temple Jews who were very strict about their religion. • When the new king, Antiochus IV, became king in 175 BCE. Jews had lost their place of worship again

  3. Judaism • In 164BCE. Juda Maccabeus went against Antiochus. • Juda put together a Jewish Army to raise up against the king, Antiochus, and destroy him. • After the first attempt on Hadrian, the Jews took one last rebellion but they were defeated. • After the last rebellion the Jews in the army scattered.

Christianity • When Mary had Jesus, she and Joseph took him to the Temple in Jerusalem to present him to God. • A strange thing happened, an old man Simeon took baby Jesus in his arms at the temple. • Simeon had believed that God wouldn’t let him die until he had seen the one who would save Israel. • The Messiah is considered the savior of the Jews

Christianity • When the king found out that the first born would be king and now would have a challenge to his throne, he ordered all the first born babies in Bethlehem to be killed. • When Mary and Joseph heard about this they had escaped in the night with Jesus. • Jesus grew up to man hood in Egypt • He had chosen 12 disciples

Christianity • Disciples ar close, devoted followers • Jesus wasn’t a military leader or organizer, he was a peacemaker and healer. • Years after preaching Jesus was arrested by his enemies and Roman official, Pontius Pilate • Pilate knew Jesus was innocent , to keep good with other leaders he had ordered Jesus to be crucified. • Jesus died on the cross and after 3 days he rose again.
