In “Jar of Hearts”-What does the speaker mean, “You’re gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul”? AND—what poetic element(s) is/are used?
He is so mean, his soul has no purpose. He is emotionless. This is a metaphor. Followed by the backhanded hyperbole—that he will “catch a cold” this extends the metaphor AND slams him.
