  5. Reviewed other eligible groups of targeted grants!! • Many grant offerings are targeted toward Rural • What members of our Board Structure served allied eligible agencies • Peers approached to venture jointly in the project

  6. Challenges: Short of Mental Health Professionals Needed alternative to utilize current team membership Maximize their past training Joint team effort kept intact Look for economical training environment Secure speaker to train group at minimal costs Defusing Project

Successes: Secured partner to share costs Defusing utilized peers vs Mental Health professionals Expanded upon previous training Empowered team members Partnering prevented fracturing of team Utilized Casino for training effort National speaker secured for training event at minimal cost Defusing Project

Challenges: Continuity of volunteer managers No known template available Limited funding to send individuals onto focused training elsewhere Limited time participants can be away Want to train for more than one physical session How to train new people in future Looking to expand project in future Ambulance Managers Education

Successes: Secured 86% participation Broke down larger scale template into 3 managable sessions Kept session within region Again utilized Casino setting Partnered with peer to share costs Used assistance of MN Ambulance Assn to commit to additional sessions Secured Bio-terrorism group looking to inform target audience Secured funding from Bio-terrorism group Began Pilot project for national modular format Requested assistance from local university broadcasting dept to duplicate presentations Ambulance Managers Education

Challenges: Limited contact with target audience Expensive project to bring to area Limited success with previous trainings Locating multiple training locations Securing qualified trainers Conforming to National ENA guidelines Coordinating regional fragmented pieces already in existance Trauma Nursing Core Course

Successes: Secured additional trainers from State ENA Chapter Found future subsidy for additional trainings Developed relationship with referral center speaker bureau (HCMC) Developed cost savings from host sites Used economies to sponsor two additional trainings Partnered with another grant recipient to maximize their trainings Trained 80+ participants Provided a 25% co-pay for participants Created base to develop a regional training rotation for future needs Prepared a number of nurses for the anticipated State Trauma System Used trainings to inform participants of needed Trauma system and their role legislatively Trauma Nursing Core Course

  12. Look for partners/more is better If you get a “NO” always ask what COULD be offered. Serve on regional/state committees Share your ideas/projects with others See who can host the event if possible Look at requiring a Co-Pay Would someone else benefit having this captive audience Are there national partners doing/looking at the same thing Do National partners provide assistance. Is duplication an option if so can a local college help Could you be considered a pilot project Are there speaker grants/bureaus available to assist Will speakers take less Will vendors sponsor a speaker See who can host the event if possible Use the contacts you make Challenges sometimes provide financial opportunities and rewards Learned some things along the way
