  3. 1 Executive Board Decision on the Annual Report(Annual Session, June 2014) • UNDP has been requested to: • Continue to improve quality of annual report by showing progress at an aggregate level towards the IRRF milestones and targets • Include more analytical narrative on challenges and lessons learned and impact on future programming • Present outline of format and information that will be provided in 2014 AR based on IRRF • Show appropriate tracking of results to resources CHANGING WITH THE WORLD • UNDP STRATEGIC PLAN: 2014–17

  4. 2 2 2014 Annual Report -Overview • First report to be based on the new Strategic Plan 2014 – 2017 and IRRF; • IRRF enables reporting to be based on clearly articulated set of results, baselines, targets, annual milestones, and indicators; • Now possible to produce a more robustly evidence-based report than in previous years; • Stronger more abundant data, ability to compare and aggregate, and analyze results • Ability to explore the relationships between results achieved and resources deployed; CHANGING WITH THE WORLD • UNDP STRATEGIC PLAN: 2014–17

  5. 3 Structure of the Annual Report Outline - I • Report card summary of progress • Builds on initial version piloted in the 2013 Annual Report and responds to the feedback from member states during informal consultation on areas for improvement • Introduces “at-a-glance” indication of UNDP’s performance in key areas using traffic lights • Emphasizes people-centered approach to development rooted in the SP • Final selection of outputs / indicators subject to IRRF streamlining process • Global context • Provides for space to explore major events that have influenced or led to shifts in UNDP’s programming response throughout the year.   6. 4 2 Structure of the Annual Report Outline - II • Development results to resources by SP outcome • Review of actual progress against IRRF milestones and targets; • Data drawn from corporate planning and monitoring system, country office annual results reporting exercise, evaluations, surveys, audits and reports; • Exploration of output to outcome level change, i.e. extent to which UNDP’s contribution have contributed to longer-term change; • Results tested against theories of change underpinning the SP / IRRF; • Results to resources performance analysis, tested against different parameters (duration of engagement, level of investment, variation across countries by typology, relationship of core-to-non-core, role of gender) to determine implications; CHANGING WITH THE WORLD • UNDP STRATEGIC PLAN: 2014–17

  7. 5 2 Structure of the Annual Report Outline - III • Management results • Report on tier three level results focusing on organizational efficiency and effectiveness (including an update on alignment process); • Coordination of UN development system and QCPR implementation • Dedicated focus on coordination and QCPR extracted from tier three results; CHANGING WITH THE WORLD • UNDP STRATEGIC PLAN: 2014–17
