  1. Dial up Base Station Wrist Unit Features • Wrist Unit is wirelessly configured to run one of the modes • Calibration mode to calibrate sensors • Normal Mode for regular operation • Sleep Mode when on the shelf • Wrist Unit stores data into flash with timestamp and sequence number. • Wrist Unit retrieves and transmits data in response to queries for missing data • Frequently switches to power save mode to save battery power. battery RF Unit Wrist Unit Sensor Wrist Wearable Bio sensorsShweta Jain, Rajan Zambreshweta@cs.sunysb.edu, zambre@erallo.com Base Station Features Goals • Develop a self-sustained battery powered wireless sensor Unit, wearable like a wrist watch. • Receive, process, store and transmit health related signals from the wearer’s skin. • Develop gateway between data source (wrist unit) and data sink (remote desktop computer). • Develop user interface to configure the triage network. • Base Station is a gateway between the wrist unit and the desktop computer located at another facility. • Receives and stores data from the wrist unit. • Identifies missing data and transmits queries to the wrist unit. • Converts signals received from the wrist unit into engineering units. • At the end of the day sends this data to the server/computer via dialup connection (HIPPA compliant secure file transfer). Wrist Wearable bio sensors system with CR2032 Battery and Ground line planar Antenna Mica2dot MPR500CAwith ATmel ATmega 128L processor Desktop Features Hardware • Desktop is the sink for all sensor data. • Receives and stores data into a database. • Provides a user interface to analyze and study the data collected. • Provides a user interface to configure the wrist unit to run different modes. Remote Computer • Mica2Dot with Atmega128L microprocessor and ChipCon CC1000 Radio to collect, transmit and store sensor signals. • Stargate - XScale Network Interface and Single Board Computer to receive and store data and ensure reliability. • Desktop PC to receive data via a dial up ppp connection. Software Software • TinyOS- an open-source operating system designed for wireless embedded sensor networks • JAVA • C# Power Consumption • 10uA – 50uA during data collection. • 27mA for transmission • 10mA receive mode • Battery life 3 months under normal operation.
